AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin’s new parking code enforcement went into effect June 1 following a three-month public education period.
According to the city, warnings for parking code violations that began March 1 have switched to enforceable fines.
“The changes include three new violations, easier music equipment loading processes, clarity on delivery and passenger zones and some increased fine amounts among other changes,” the city said.
The new violations include:
- Blocking a signed or marked bike lane – a $50-75 fine
- Blocking an electric vehicle charging station – a $35-50 fine
- Blocking a right-of-way closure area during special events – a $125-250 fine
