AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Bergstrom International Airport expects the airport to be busier than usual as Formula 1 kicks off this weekend in Austin, according to AUS.
Those high travel days are expected from Friday through Monday. AUS said it expects to have 35,000+ passengers departing, and it expects the volume of those numbers “could rival last year’s record-breaking 44,043” passengers.
Passengers arriving at AUS should arrive at least 2.5 hours early if departing on a domestic flight and three hours early if departing on an international flight, per a news release from AUS.
Passengers should also know the process for security screening, as well as packing luggage items correctly. TSA has guidance on its website for how to pack and more.
Those who plan to park at AUS should reserve parking spots on the ABIA Parking website and check for availability prior to arriving at the airport.
As construction projects continue at AUS, passengers should expect to hear that activity happening from midnight to 8 a.m.
