AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 33-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges after a drug trafficking investigation led to the seizure of more than 20 pounds of marijuana, nearly 3,000 grams of “suspected psilocybin-laced candy bars” and more, according to the Austin Police Department.
The man was identified as Jesse Carrillo, according to a news release from APD. He was arrested for money laundering, second-degree felony, and delivery of a controlled substance, a first degree felony. Police said “additional felony charges are pending as the investigation continues”
Attorney information was not available for Carrillo, as of Thursday. We will update this if that changes.
According to APD, this was “a prolonged investigation,” which then led to the APD Narcotics Support Unit to searching a residence on Red River Street in downtown Austin. Police were able to identify Carrillo as the suspect.
APD seized the following items from the search, as provided by the agency:
- 20.4 pounds of marijuana
- 194 THC vape cartridges
- 2,900 grams of suspected psilocybin-laced candy bars
- 8.6 grams of cocaine
- Over $200,000 in U.S. currency
“The Austin Police Department remains committed to disrupting drug distribution networks that impact the safety of our community. This case reflects the ongoing work of APD’s specialized units to identify, investigate, and hold accountable those involved in organized drug trafficking within the city,” the release said.
The case remained under investigation Thursday.
