AUSTIN (KXAN) — Chicago-based convenience store chain Foxtrot announced Wednesday morning that it will open “a new Foxtrot,” via a post on its Instagram account.
A representative for Foxtrot declined to say which of its Texas locations will reopen. He did tell KXAN that the reopened stores will be in Dallas and Austin, but will not include all of the chain’s locations.
The stores will keep their former layout and offerings, according to the company. However, the company declined to say if it would offer to rehire its former workers.
According to the company, Foxtrot’s assets were sold at a May 10 auction following “financial troubles” that arose from its April merger with grocery store chain Dom’s Kitchen & Market.
Holding company Further Point Enterprises purchased the assets for $2.2 million during the May auction. According to reporting from Chicago TV station WGN, no other bids were placed on the assets.
Foxtrot will be a “new company” headed by Foxtrot’s original founder Mike LaVitola.
