GIDDINGS, Texas (KXAN) — The Texas Rangers are now involved in an investigation in Giddings after multiple stabbings, which then led to an officer-involved shooting.
The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed four people were stabbed Monday morning, and the suspect was shot dead by a Giddings officer.
Local and state law enforcement officials had three different areas blocked off with crime scene tapes — one at a pest control business on U.S. Highway 77, one at a gas station up the street and a third location around the corner from the gas station on Independence Street.
“Stuff like this has never, at least in my life time, has never happened,” said Edgar Cardona who works at a restaurant that’s located between the pest control business and the gas station.
“What I really thought about – because I usually get here and I walk over to the store to grab things in the morning, so I was like ‘man, that could’ve been me.’ So it was pretty scary stuff I think,” he said.
Police have not said how the stabbings victims are doing. They also have not addressed whether the victims knew the suspect.
According to Giddings Police, the Texas Rangers will release information. The DPS told KXAN the investigation is ongoing.
We will update this story with more information on the incident as it becomes available.
