17 new coronavirus cases in Hays County bring total to 314 – News – Austin American-Statesman

Hays County on Thursday reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 since the day before, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases to 314.

The count on Thursday was the second-highest number of confirmed reports of COVID-19 in the county in a single day.

The county reported its highest single-day count on Wednesday with 18 additional confirmed cases.

The number of those considered recovered remained at 165, health officials said Thursday.

Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said 146 cases are currently active. He is awaiting results on 23 tests, officials said.

The county reported one new hospitalization Thursday. To date, 29 people have been hospitalized in Hays County, with four of them still in a hospital.

Three people have died of coronavirus in the county, officials have said.

The breakdown of all 314 reported cases, which includes recoveries and active cases, by city is:

Austin (some Hays County addresses are listed in Austin): 7

Bear Creek: 1

Buda: 41

Driftwood: 2

Dripping Springs: 6

Kyle: 160

Niederwald: 2

San Marcos: 83

Uhland: 1

Wimberley: 11
