AUSTIN (KXAN) — Veterans were invited to celebrate Texas Veterans Legal Aid Week, which occurs from Nov. 10 through Nov. 16.
The effort was created by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF) in recognition of Veterans Day.
TAJF said the mission for the event is to provide free legal assistance programs across the state through facilitated legal aid programs, pro bono private lawyers and law school legal services.

According to the TAJF, this had been made possible by the $7 million in legislative funding approved by the Supreme Court of Texas, as well as TAJF’s own $2 million contribution. With that, $9 million was able to be dispersed to 13 veteran nonprofit organizations statewide.
TAJF reminds veterans that year-round legal aid assistance is available at legal aid clinics across the state.
