AUSTIN (KXAN) — Despite cameras rolling on the moments leading up to a deadly fight in downtown Austin, investigators are still working to identify who stabbed D’Andre Day.
This week on Unsolved: Central Texas, Avery Travis sits down with Austin Police Detective Jason Jones about the case he said keeps him awake at night.
The 27-year-old was stabbed after an altercation with three men near Sixth Street on Sept. 4, 2022, according to police. Investigators have asked the public for help identifying those men, who were caught on camera arguing with Day and later leaving the scene.
Detective Jones said the surveillance video is not clear enough to definitively identify the suspects, but he hopes someone recognizes something. Anyone who was in the busy entertainment district that morning, he said, might remember a detail and could still come forward.
Detectives hope one particular bystander has cell phone video of the altercation and will come forward.

Until then, Austin PD continues its efforts to track down witnesses and the suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call the APD homicide tip line at 512-974-TIPS (8477). There may be a reward from Crime Stoppers for information that helps police make an arrest.
