AUSTIN (KXAN) — Businesses across Austin are honoring veterans and active-duty military personnel this Veterans Day with special promotions, including discounted and complimentary meals and services.
The federal holiday comes every Nov. 11, the anniversary of the end of World War I.
Austin locations of national restaurant chains are participating in these promotions and availability varies by location.
Food and drink deals
Applebee’s
Veterans can get a free lunch or dinner from a select entree menu when dining in at participating locations.
Buffalo Wild Wings
Veterans can enjoy 10 free boneless wings and fries. Available for dine-in, walk-in orders, and through Buffalo Wild Wings GO locations.
California Pizza Kitchen
Veterans and active military can receive a free entrée and beverage from their Veterans Day menu, including pizzas, pasta and salads. Dine-in only with proof of service.
Chilis
Veterans and active military get a free meal from select menu items on Veterans Day, at participating locations for dine-in only.
Denny’s
Active and retired military personnel can enjoy a free Original Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon at participating locations by presenting a valid military ID or similar document.
Dunkin
All active and retired military personnel can receive a free donut on Veterans Day.
Fogo De Chão
Active military and veterans receive half off their meals, plus an additional 10% discount for each of their guests when they dine in from Nov. 10-12.
Peets Coffee
Veterans can enjoy a free drip coffee or tea of any size.
Starbucks
Veterans, active-duty service members and their spouses can receive a free tall hot or iced coffee on Veterans Day at participating locations, cafés and drive-thrus only.
Texas Roadhouse
Veterans and active-duty service members can receive a free meal voucher from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 11. Vouchers are redeemable for dine-in or carry-out from a select menu through May 2026.
Those interested must present a valid military ID or other proof of service.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille
From 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., veterans and active-duty service members can receive a complimentary pork chop dinner.
From 4-6 p.m., they can also receive a three-course meal for $39.

All locations in the Austin area will be offering free haircuts to Veterans with proof of military service on Veterans Day.
Tranquil Essence
Tranquil Essence at the Casa de Prana Holistic Resource Center on North Lamar Blvd. is offering veterans a free sound therapy session the morning of Saturday, Nov. 8.
Veterans can relax with the rhythm of Himalayan sound bowls and vibrations, which Tranquil Essence said helps calm the nervous system and relieve stress.
Those interested must register in advance and show proof of service prior to attending.
Hiring Red, White & You!
Employers from over 50 companies are attending the 14th annual Hiring Red, White & You! Veterans Hiring Event on Thursday, Nov. 6.
The event, held at the Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex, is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., but veterans, transitioning service members and their spouses can enter an hour early.
Employers such as the AARP, Ascension Health, College of Health Care Professions and a number of departments at the county, city and state level will be available to attendees.
Veterans Day events
The Austin Veteran’s Day Parade
This parade features local marching units, JROTC and ROTC programs, local veterans organizations and first responders.
The march begins at 9 a.m. from the Congress Avenue Bridge, moving towards the Texas Capitol, with a viewing stand at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel.
Veteran’s Day Comedy Show
Local comedians will deliver a military-themed routine at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8787 the night of Saturday, Nov. 8.
The event will also include a full bar, food, a photo booth and raffle. Veterans can attend for free by showing their military ID and will be given a free raffle ticket.
Admission starts at $20 for non-veterans.
VFW Veteran’s Day BBQ Benefit
Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting a free barbecue at Capital City Post all day Saturday, Nov. 8.
The meat is smoked by local veterans and volunteers and is free for veterans and active service members. Meals are $10 for non-veterans.
There will also be a silent auction, a comedy show, live music and games.
Veteran’s Day Benefit for Merivis
The Drew Fish Band and David Thacker Band will hold a free concert at Central Machine Works on Sunday, Nov. 9.
Proceeds will go towards Merivis, an Austin nonprofit that prepares veterans entering technology-based careers.
