A heavy police presence will still be in the area as the investigation continues, according to the city of Wimberley.

The city previously posted about the shelter in place on Facebook, saying the incident happened at 109 Oak Drive near the Wimberley Square. It was later lifted around 10 a.m., according to the city.

The Hays County Sheriff’s Office said around 5 a.m., deputies went to the Woodcreek North subdivision after reports of a motor vehicle theft.

Suspects were seen running away in the area of the Wimberley Square at about 8:50 a.m., HCSO said. One of them is in custody, but the other suspect, who may be armed, is still missing.

HCSO said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man in a light-colored hoodie (white, cream or yellow).

The updated alert from the city did not say if the suspect was arrested.
