All the damage and debris caused by the recent flooding in Travis, Williamson, and Burnet counties is being sent to the Austin Recycle Center, where it’s being processed into mulch.

Mike Yaw, Chief Sales Officer at Austin Wood Recycling, estimates they’re only about a third of the way through the total amount of mulch expected to be produced from the flood-related materials alone.

“To date, we brought in 100 thousand cubic yards of material,” Yaw said. “All of that will actually be sold in this late fall, but really through, the spring of 2026.”

According to the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the state of Texas has removed more than 2.5 million cubic yards of debris across the state from communities affected by July 4th weekend.
