AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two teenagers were arrested on weapon felony charges as an investigation continues into a deadly September shooting that happened in Elgin, according to the Elgin Police Department.
The two teens were identified as 18-year-old Aden Galindo and 17-year-old Jaycob Hernandez. They were both charged with unlawful transfer of certain weapons, which is a state jail felony, per a news release from Elgin PD.
Attorney information was not available for Galindo or Hernandez as of Friday. We will update this article if that changes.
The deadly shooting happened in the early morning hours of Sept. 30. Officers responded to the 100 block of Jefferson Cove for a report of someone with a gunshot wound. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who died inside the residence, who was later identified as 18-year-old Jowel Wallace.
Police also identified 17-year-old Jayden Sherrod as the suspect in the shooting. He was arrested and charged with one count of murder and booked into the Bastrop County Jail.
The arrests of Galindo and Hernandez happened on Wednesday, Oct. 16, where police had two search and arrest warrants at 306 W. Alamo in Elgin and 312 Lacy Drive in Bastrop County, Elgin PD said.
The following items were seized during the search, as provided by Elgin PD:
- Five handguns
- Four AR-15 style rifles
- Two AK style rifles
- 500 ammunition rounds
- Eight extended/high-capacity magazines
- $4,300 in cash
- Ski mask style head and face covering

Police said an additional investigation continues with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), as of Friday.
