AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Little Shady, a spinoff restaurant of Shady Grove, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first location in Kyle, Texas.
The idea for the restaurant came from longtime Shady Grove proprietor Rusty Zagst, A Little Shady’s local owner and operator.
“We are thrilled to be opening our first A Little Shady,” said Zagst. “This concept has been five years in the making, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place than Kyle to bring it to life. The support and encouragement we’ve received so far has been incredibly meaningful, and we’re excited to return the favor by serving this community.”
Shady Grove, which used to be off Barton Spring Road in south Austin, permanently closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant opened in 1992.
Zagst first announced the plan to open the restaurant in July.
The restaurant is expected to offer burgers, frozen Shady Thangs, green chile cheese fries, grilled wings, chicken fried chicken and The Hippie Sandwich.
“Guests will enjoy a welcoming design that blends vintage roadside appeal with modern comfort, featuring counter-service ordering, an inviting indoor dining area, and generous patio seating for gatherings both big and small,”
A little Shady will be built one block west of Interstate 35 on Farm-to-Market 1626. It will offer both indoor dining and patio seating.
