AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for some flights arriving at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport after previously issuing a ground delay due to staffing Monday.
While the ground delay was set to end at 9 p.m., the FAA also added the ground stop and became active from 8:01 p.m. and is expected to last until 9:15 p.m.
“Probability of extension is medium (30-60%),” the FAA said on its website.
Previously, the FAA said that ground delays would average around 40 minutes, with a maximum delay of 94 minutes expected.
“Keep an eye on your flight status and connect directly with airlines for more info,” AUS said on social media earlier Monday.
In May, the FAA cited that continued staffing issues caused delays at AUS. U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett, who represents part of Austin, advocated for more to be done to address staffing problems.
