AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Police Department said two juvenile suspects were arrested in September following a joint police investigation.
According to APD, on Sept. 10, officers received photos of a suspect in possession of several firearms that were stolen during an attempted auto theft.
Detectives executed a search warrant on one of the suspects’ residences, and APD said officers recovered eight firearms, including multiple silencers and short-barreled rifles, from the suspect’s bedroom.
“Following the seizure, APD detectives secured three arrest warrants for Possession of Prohibited Weapons against the primary suspect. During further investigation and interviews, a second suspect was identified, leading to four additional warrants for the same charge,” APD said.
According to police, the suspects, who were both on probation for multiple prior offenses, were arrested and taken to the Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center.
APD said its Auto Theft Unit partnered with the Cedar Park Police Department and Austin ISD’s police department.
