LIBERTY HILL, TEXAS (KXAN) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office seeks public help finding a suspect that broke into a church in Liberty Hill over the weekend.
WCSO released images of the alleged suspect on social media Thursday, who used a crowbar to break the back door of the Vintage Church of Liberty Hill building on Sunday, Sept. 28.
WCSO described the suspect as a white man who was driving “a dark red Chevy Trax with no roof rack.”
Security footage shows the suspect forcefully breaking through multiple doors inside the church while appearing to search for something. Vintage Church of Liberty Hill’s Pastor, Nathan Brown, told KXAN that the suspect did not end up stealing anything, but caused an estimated $3,000 in damage.

“It’s a little unsettling to know that someone would break into this space,” said Beth Allen, the Ministry Director at the church.
This incident is the latest of a string of church break-ins in the Austin metro. Back in September, there were break-ins at Trinity Anglican Church in Jonestown and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lago Vista. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) is helping investigate those incidents.
Security camera footage from the Jonestown incident captures a red SUV entering the church parking lot. The footage also shows a man entering the building and proceeding to steal a safe from inside the church.
KXAN reached out to both TSCO AND WSCO, and they both said they are working with other neighboring law enforcement agencies regarding church burglary cases. TSCO and WSCO did not confirm if the incidents are done by the same suspect.
“It is a little scary that it’s been happening at multiple places. Hopefully, it seems like this may be the same person,” Allen said. “We obviously wish the best for that person. We hope that they’re held accountable for what they’re doing, but we also hope that they know that the love of God is never too far.”
