AUSTIN (KXAN) — City leadership says there is a “prominent violent crime hot spot” in Northeast Austin. During a news conference Thursday, they will announce their plans to address it.
Austin police and other city leaders aid the launch of a new crime reduction strategy they hope will reduce violence, address community concerns, and improve safety.
APD said the plan is partially based on a Place Network Investigation (PNI) at 900 E. Braker Lane.
The 10:30 a.m. press conference will include:
- Austin Police Department Chief Lisa Davis
- APD Commander JJ Schmidt
- Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Chief Ron Swenson
- Austin Fire Marshall Stephen Truesdell
- Development Services Division Manager Dan Armstrong
- Law Division Chief Bianca Bentzin
