AUSTIN (KXAN) — As the city of Austin prepares to take on big crowds for Austin City Limits this weekend, police gathered with other first responders Wednesday afternoon to provide tips on how those attending can stay safe as the festival kicks off Friday.
The Austin Police Department said to always be aware of your surroundings, know where your exits are and have a plan to get in touch with loved ones and family members in case of an emergency.
APD Corporal Jose Mendez said keeping the city safe is their top priority during festival season.
“I want to remind everyone that safety is and will be our number one priority. We encourage our community members and visitors to make responsible decisions during these next several weeks,” Mendez said.
Fall festival season also means the Austin Airport will hit its busiest time of the year for air travel over the next month, in addition to ACL with Formula 1 and football games at the University of Texas, Rep. Lloyd Doggett told KXAN.
