AUSTIN (KXAN) —  A man accused of arson and murder after the death of another man in a Wimberly bar fire will make his first appearance in Hays County court Tuesday morning, per court records.

Aidan Dwyer, 24, was charged in July with two first-degree felonies, murder and arson causing serious bodily injury/death. Hays County officials identified the deceased man as 23-year-old Zachary Salley, and said that he died from injuries they believe were caused by the fire.

The fire happened in late June at Savage’s Hill Country Bar and Grill. The bar’s owners planned to close for good just a few days after the fire.

Police said Dwyer and Salley were employees of the restaurant.

Investigators said they found traces of “ignitable liquids” throughout the bar. Court documents also revealed the fire alarm and security cameras had been turned off.

After an interview with Dwyer’s roommate, investigators said that Dwyer allegedly talked about burning the bar down in the past.

Investigators also found that a lockbox in the bar’s kitchen, where the restaurant kept its key, was open and empty. One of co-owners of the bar said Dwyer was one of the employees who knew the combination of the lockbox, according to court documents.

Dwyer is expected to appear in court at 9 a.m. to have his charges read and will have the chance to enter a plea.
