This announcement comes after several semiconductor executives from around the world visited the city on Sept. 17 with U.S. and South Korean trade officials.

According to a press release, the project is expected to create 30 new jobs and more than 13 million in capital investments. The project includes a new building and the expansion of its existing building — it will add 50,000 square feet of facility space to increase production, according to the release.

Abbott mentioned in the release that the expansion at the Elgin facility will “help support the increased demand for chip production in Texas and around the world.”

The release said that the expanded facility will increase monthly production of electrostatic chuck (ESC) and ESC components from 1,500 to 2,500 jobs, and the new facility will produce an extreme 1,000 semiconductor manufacturing equipment pieces per month under completion.

“With significant investments from global technology and manufacturing leaders, Texas will continue to partner with industry leaders to ensure supply chain resilience and solidify our dominance in domestic manufacturing,” Abbott said.

Yerico Manufacturing CEO and President Ihn Hong Min said the expansion will lead to dozens of new and local jobs in Elgin. Min added that it will also “improve our U.S.- based technology allowing Yerico to advance as a global supplier.”
