MANOR, Texas (KXAN) — The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is holding a meeting Tuesday night to get community input on the Highway 290 Extension Project.
It will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Manor Elementary Early Learning Center. CTRMA is considering expanding the Highway 290 Toll Road to State Highway 95 past Elgin to reduce congestion along U.S. 290. Currently, the Highway 290 Toll Road ends before reaching Manor, according to a news release.
CTRMA said congestion on Highway 290, east of Austin, can add up to 17 minutes to the average commute. The mobility authority launched a study in April to examine potential environmental impacts of the extension. Its website does not say when the study will be completed.
Another community session will be held at Austin Community College’s Elgin Campus Thursday at 5:30 p.m. CTRMA also has presentations on the expansion project and a project feedback survey on its website. The deadline to complete the survey is Oct. 10.
