AUSTIN (KXAN) — This weekend, you have your chance to check out some of Austin’s best culture, arts and museums all for free. Austin Museum Day takes place Sunday, Sept. 21, across the city.
The 28th annual event is a free celebration of art, culture, history, music, nature and science. More than 30 museums in the greater Austin area are participating, including special programming and activities for kids.
Talk a ‘crawl’ through campus
There’s also a campus crawl happening at the University of Texas. You can pick up a postcard at one of seven participating museums and galleries and check out what’s all around campus. If you get your card stamped at four places, upload a photo to Instagram and tag @austinmuseums for a chance to win a bag of museum goodies.
Free bus rides on Sunday
CapMetro is providing free bus passes on Sunday, so everyone can explore for free. The pass is redeemable for 24 hours from Sept. 20 to Sept. 21.
To get your free pass, download the UMO Mobility App for Apple or Android and create an account. Once registered, tap the menu and select “Redeem Code.” The code for free rides is CM-3FIF-5HUC.
