AUSTIN (KXAN) — At least two people were injured early Wednesday morning during an officer-involved shooting near the 700 block of Azie Morton Road, according to a social media post from Austin Police at 5:39 a.m.
The department said that the two who were injured include an APD officer and “one additional person.” APD Watch Command said that both were receiving care at a local hospital, and that the officer had been shot. It didn’t disclose the other person’s injuries.
APD also said in its post that it is looking for “at least one” suspect. In a follow-up post, it said that the suspect “is a white male last seen wearing a green shirt and tan pants.”
“He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see anyone suspicious, do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately. For your safety, keep clear of the area,” APD said.
As of 6 a.m., officers were actively searching Zilker Park for the suspect.
APD also sent a reverse 911 message to phones in the area, issuing a shelter in place for residents.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
