AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Milam County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said it was searching for a man accused of shooting a woman Tuesday in Buckholts, Texas, which is a town that runs through U.S. Route 190 between Temple and Cameron.
According to MCSO, deputies responded to a call shortly after 11 a.m. in the 1800 block of County Road 104 related to a gunshot victim.
At the scene, officers found a woman, later identified as 24-year-old Grace Durbin, with a single gunshot wound. Durbin told deputies she was shot by her boyfriend, who was identified as 38-year-old Cody Villareal.
Law enforcement officials were unable to find Villareal following a multi-agency response and an extensive search.
“Villareal remains at large, and warrants are being sought for his arrest on the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Family Violence,” MCSO said.
According to MCSO, Villareal and Durbin were both known to law enforcement.

“In April of this year, Durbin shot Villareal on the same property,” MCSO said. “Durbin had active warrants on the charge of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Family Violence for that shooting.”
According to Milam County jail records, Durbin was booked into the facility Tuesday evening on the charge.
Anyone with information on Villareal’s whereabouts was asked to contact law enforcement.
