ROUND ROCK, TEXAS (KXAN) — Construction on a road project in the City of Round Rock is causing some concern after residents found sediment in their water.
The road project is aimed at expanding Sam Bass Road, with the construction spanning 2.6 miles between RM 1431 and Wyoming Springs Drive.
Ervin Dameron lives in a neighborhood close to the construction on Sam Bass Road, and he said that he noticed the water filter for his house getting dirtier abnormally fast.
“It would be murky,” Dameron said. “I would decide to change it after a week or so, but then it got to be where I was changing it every couple of days. I’ve used a whole pack of water filters trying to resolve it.”
The issue regarding the water being dirty was also seen in other houses as well. As shown in the picture below, another homeowner who lives near the construction said this filter became that dirty in three days.

“Luckily for me, I have the whole house [on the] water filter, and it’s taking care of it.” Dameron said.
Aqua Texas services water to many residents in that area, and they told KXAN that they have been facilitating moving several water mains on that road. They added in a statement sent to KXAN:
We are aware some customers may notice temporary sediment in their water due to county construction activity along Sam Bass Road. The water remains safe to use, and crews are actively flushing lines to clear the system. We appreciate customers’ patience while this work is completed.

“Construction makes all these big promises about how smoothly everything’s going to go, and obviously it doesn’t,” Dameron said. “To end up having to change filters multiple times just because of that is really disheartening.”
According to Williamson County, this road project is anticipated to finish in the fall later this year.
