AUSTIN (KXAN) — Delta Air Lines will end its nonstop route between Austin and Midland in November.
The route, which launched in April 2024, will be discontinued effective Nov. 9, an airline spokesperson told KXAN, as Delta “[adapts] our schedule to align with customer demand.”
The spokesperson said Delta remains “committed to serving Central Texas.” Midland will still be served with direct service from Austin by Southwest Airlines.
The AUS-MAF route is the second intra-Texas route canceled by Delta this year. Nonstop service to Harlingen ended in June. At that time, Delta said it would reallocate equipment to support the Midland route.
Delta has launched several new flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport this year, with a further expansion of flights coming in 2026. The airline will also open a permanent flight attendant base at the airport in October.
In May, Delta overtook American Airlines as the second-largest airline operating at AUS in terms of passenger traffic, behind only Southwest.
