AUSTIN (KXAN) — For Texas Athletics to even consider placing another brand on their courts and fields next to the iconic burnt orange Longhorn, it had to be a special opportunity with a partner that shared the same values.
Humann, an Austin-based health and wellness company born out of the University of Texas’ research, which has worked with Longhorn athletes for more than a decade, fits that mold, university leaders said. The university announced Monday that Humann is the official cardiovascular supplement of the Longhorns, and their logo will be featured on every playing field and court that teams call home.
It’s a 16-year sponsorship deal managed by Longhorn Sports Properties, a division of national college athletics media company Learfield, and athletic director Chris Del Conte said it’s a perfect match.
“The exciting opportunity with Humann reinforces what starts at Texas, changes the world,” he said. “What began with Texas researchers has been used by our student-athletes for over a decade to help them perform better on the field, and aid Longhorn fans and people around the country to be at their best heart health for everyday life.”
Longhorns football coach Steve Sarkisian, who had surgery to repair a congenital heart anomaly before he was hired at Texas, said the partnership with Humann goes beyond a business aspect.
“It’s really personal to me and my history, and to align with a company like this, that makes cardiovascular health a priority nationwide, I think, is unbelievable,” he said. “Our players who take their products feel and see the results.”
Humann has worked with the school’s performance nutrition program and provided support for training staff and athletes, and its work is centered around discoveries led by Dr. Ferid Murad. Murad joined the UT Health Science Center years after winning the Nobel Prize for medicine in 1998, and the research discovery program he led in Austin was vital in providing the building blocks to create the company.
Joel Kocher, the founder and CEO of Humann, said the partnership is “proof of what happens when world-class science and world-class athletics work together to push human potential further.”
Humann’s logo will appear on all of the Longhorns’ fields and courts this year except for Moody Center, where it will appear starting the 2026-27 season.
