AUSTIN (KXAN) — Several groups, including the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL Austin) and the Austin for Palestine Coalition, are hosting an “emergency protest” on Monday after the United States bombed Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend.
“It threatens to set into motion a regional or even global war with massive casualties, nuclear radiation, and catastrophic consequences. We demand an immediate end to U.S./Israeli attack on Iran and its sovereignty!” the Austin for Palestine Coalition wrote on social media.
Iran retaliated Monday by launching a limited missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar. United States officials reported no casualties, according to the Associated Press, and the move indicated possible ground for de-escalation.
Protests have occurred nationwide after the United States’ official involvement in the conflict over the weekend, including in New York City and Washington, D.C.
In Austin, the anti-war protest is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Republic Square Park.
