Jace LaViolette of Texas A&M was the other player honored alongside Schuessler. LaViolette hit four home runs and drove in seven runs across four games and help the Aggies win a series over No. 2 Arkansas.

Schuessler hit two homers and drove in a career-high eight runs in the finale against Auburn, blasting his second 3-run home run of the game in the seventh inning to end it via the 10-run mercy rule 14-2. He became the fourth Texas player since 2008 to have at least eight RBIs in a game, joining Brandon Belt (2008), Porter Brown (2023) and Will Gasparino earlier this season.

He hit a home run in the opening game of the Auburn series to help Texas claim it 3-2.

It’s the sixth time this season a Longhorn has been honored with a weekly award by the conference. Dylan Volantis has two of them, along with Gasparino, Luke Harrison, Ruger Riojas and Adrian Rodriguez.

No. 1 Texas (33-5, 16-2 SEC) heads down I-35 to take on Texas State on Tuesday in San Marcos, and then hosts the Lone Star Showdown series with Texas A&M starting Friday.
