ROUND ROCK, Texas (KXAN) — A winning scratch ticket worth $7.5 million has been claimed by an anonymous person in Round Rock, according to the Texas Lottery.
The ‘Loteria Supreme’ ticket was purchased at Paloma Lake Market at 7111 County Road 110.
The anonymous winner said they waited to get home before scratching off the ticket and realizing they had won.
“The rest of the day was a blur after that but the next day it sunk in,” the winner said, according to a press release from the Texas Lottery. “It’s kind of a miracle knowing I’ll have no worries from now on. I’m looking forward to traveling across the U.S. and seeing more of the country.”
Since being introduced in 1992, the Texas Lottery has handed out more than $13.8 billion in prizes to players who won at least $1,000 each.
Gov. Abbott recently directed the Texas Rangers to investigate two jackpot wins that have been scrutinized by lawmakers amid questions about the integrity of the state’s lottery. The action by the governor came just hours after the Texas Lottery Commission announced it was banning lottery courier services, which allow players to order lottery tickets using a phone or the internet in the state.
