TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was found in Manor on Sunday.
TCSO said it received a call shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday from someone reporting they found a body in the 9700 block of Bitting School Road.
TCSO said deputies spoke with the caller, who directed them to a roadside area where the body was concealed under a tarp.
The body, which TCSO said belonged to an adult man estimated to be in his 40s, was “obviously deceased and in later stages of decomposition,” according to the sheriff’s office.
TCSO said preliminary evidence suggested that the person who died may have been a “transient who was left on the side of the roadway after dying.”
The sheriff’s office said that while the death is suspicious, detectives do not believe there is any threat to the public.
The sheriff’s office said the identity will not be released until positive identification has been made by the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office and next of kin has been notified. An autopsy is expected to be completed Monday, TCSO said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the TCSO Tip Line at 512-854-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
