WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Following a three-day trial, a Williamson County jury found a Hutto man guilty of sexual assault of a child on Tuesday.
According to the county’s district attorney, 39-year-old Josue Antonio Gurrola was given a sentence of 99 years in prison related to the conviction.
“The jury’s verdict of 99 years is a testament to the severity of the crime committed and the enduring impact on the victim’s life. We hope this sentence brings solace to the victim and serves as a stern warning to those who would perpetrate such heinous acts in our community,” Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick said.
In early 2021, a 14-year-old victim suffered multiple instances of sexual assault by Gurrola, who was known to the victim and in a position of trust for the child, according to the DA’s office.
“The victim made an initial outcry to her mother, who contacted the Hutto Police Department to report the crime,” the DA’s office said.
Gurrola was arrested Oct. 4, 2021, on unrelated charges and then taken to the Williamson County jail.
