SAN MARCOS

Order now prohibits

gatherings of 10 or more

Following a recent order by San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson to prohibit public or private community gatherings of 50 or more people anywhere within the city limits, she signed a new order Tuesday that reduces that number to 10.

The new order also adds new closures including common dining areas at food establishments, as well as bars, and is in effect until April 1. Food establishments are ordered to take measures to reduce occupancy levels to ensure that no more than 10 people occupy the same space or dining room at the same time and are encouraged to provide take-away or no-contact delivery food service.

The new order will continue until April 1, when it will be reevaluated. For more information: sanmarcostx.gov/covid19info.

TRAVIS COUNTY

Drive-thru lanes open

at three tax offices

Tax Assessor-Collector Bruce Elfant closed the lobbies at all tax office locations but the drive-thru lanes at three of Travis County’s tax offices remain open.

The drive-thru lanes at the main tax office, 5501 Airport Blvd., are open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, until further notice. The two branch offices with drive-thru locations are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the Pflugerville branch, 15822 Foothill Farms Loop; and McKinney Falls branch, 4011 McKinney Falls Parkway.

The services available from drive-thru locations are 30-day temporary permits — permits are $29.75 and customers must pay with cash — placards for persons with disability, property tax payments for those unable to pay at TravisCountyTax.org, vehicle registration renewal for those unable to renew at Texas.gov and pickup and/or purchase of the state’s standard-issue license plates and specialty plates.

The offices cannot process title applications or new-resident registration in the drive-thru lanes.

WIMBERLEY

Schools extend

spring break

The Wimberley school district will extend spring break and close its campuses for an additional two weeks through the week of March 30 through April 3 as the district assesses the COVID-19 situation in the community.

All meetings, campus events, practices, and extracurricular activities will be suspended.

During spring break, administrators will finalize plans for other considerations during this closure, such as alternate learning opportunities and providing meals to students who receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Details regarding online learning and the distribution of educational materials and meals will be emailed to parents and guardians via Skyward Family Access by Thursday. Updates will also be provided at wimberleyisd.net/coronavirus.
