AUSTIN (KXAN) — City officials are set to give more details Tuesday about the June 12 mass shooting on Sixth Street in Austin that killed one man and injured 14 others.
The news conference from the Travis County District Attorney’s Office will be at 11 a.m. and the following officials are expected to speak:
- Travis County DA Jose Garza
- Austin Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon
- First Assistant DA Trudy Strassburger
- Assistant DA Guillermo Gonzales
A press release from the DA’s office says the updates are regarding “the investigation and prosecution” in the case.
Jeremiah Tabb, 17, was arrested and initially charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. An argument between two groups of teens escalated into gunfire, and police say Tabb was the one of people who fired shots. Police also took a 15-year-old minor in custody in connection with the shooting the day after the shooting.
The shooting killed 25-year-old Douglas Kantor, who was visiting Austin. One other victim remains in critical condition as of last update.
