A tentative labor deal has been reached between the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1091 and MV Transportation, which handles bus operations and maintenance services for Capital Metro.
The deal follows a protest earlier this week in which several drivers wore symbolic black eyes, with black makeup or a black sticker, to protest the slow pace of negotiations.
“After two days of collaborative working sessions, we can confirm that MV Transportation and the Amalgamated Transit Union have come to terms on a proposed contract to present to the union members,” said Jeff Womack, chief marketing officer for MV Transportation. “MV is optimistic that it will be ratified.”
The union will vote on the agreement March 1, according to ATU Local 1091 President Brent Payne. Payne declined to comment on specifics of the deal before the vote.
A $1.4 billion contract between Cap Metro and MV Transportation took effect Jan 1. Before this year, two companies, MV Transportation and RATP Dev, handled bus operations for its two garages.
