Hays County health officials on Friday reported five more people in the area have tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total to 5,951.

A total of 55 people in the county have reportedly died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. Hays County officials did not report any new coronavirus-related deaths Friday.

Officials added that the total number of estimated recoveries in the county was 4,619.

Of the 345 people who have been hospitalized since the start of the pandemic with COVID-19, nine were still in the hospital Friday. No new hospitalizations were reported.

County health officials have reported 27,207 negative coronavirus test results as of Friday.
