AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, also known as HAAM, hosted its 15th annual Corporate Battle of the Bands Wednesday night, along with a silent auction, all in the name of helping raise money to support area musicians.
HAAM is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable health care for greater Austin’s low-income, working musicians.
Each year, it hosts a “Corporate Battle of the Bands” event where local companies’ employees compete in front of a panel of local celebrity and music industry professionals to see who leaves with the title of Austin’s Best Corporate Band.
Bobby Chesney was one of people competing in the battle. He said getting to go on stage at ACL Live at the Moody Center was “pretty special for us, and knowing that all the money that’s being raised is going to a good cause that’s part of what makes our city special.”
Along with the evening’s performances, there was also a silent auction filled with exclusive experiences, private concerts and many items donated by HAAM supporters and members.
Awards were given for best song, stage presence, fan favorite, best band and fan club.
