AUSTIN (KXAN) — The San Marcos Police Department said officers responded to multiple shootings Saturday night into Sunday morning. One shooting was fatal.
SMPD said the first shooting occurred downtown around 10 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots on the square near Kissing Alley.
Police said three victims were taken to the hospital, and police confirmed one person died.
SMPD said it was searching for two suspects related to the first shooting. Both were described as Black men. One was last seen in a black hoodie with white letters, dark pants and dark shoes, and the other suspect wore a black and lighter grey two-tone jacket, dark pants and a beanie.
Police said the suspect vehicle was possibly a four-door, silver or grey Audi A3.
As a result of the shooting, all bars on the square were asked to close.
SMPD said a second shooting occurred around 1:25 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Post Road.
“Investigators do not believe that there is any connection between this incident and the earlier shooting at the square,” SMPD said.
A victim in that shooting was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, according to police, and a suspect has not yet been identified.
